Day 9 Peach Springs - Las Vegas via Needles

Sorry but its gone horribly wrong, no drink for a week and heidi is re-attached with alcohol with dire consequences.  That's what Coyote Ugly does for you.

Nice blog though Tom, very good, look forward to the next one,  take a photo of you all in descending size and then in all at full height.  Look forward to seeing the Morella pic.

Trip update tomorrow...

So a belated update.  Leaving Hualapai Lodge, perhaps the grandest accommodation we have frequented thus far, with its shaded salt water pool and good breakfast with even hot water for the tea we headed out.

Today we were heading through Arizona, touching California for a brief spell before leaving 66 to head north to Vegas.

Te road took us up Sitgreaves Pass once a dirt road with some great hairpins, or "switchbacks".  We started with a bottle of the red stuff and picked up a pin badge from a kindly man at the foot of the pass.

Near the summit we parked up to climb 30 steps to Shaffers Fish Bowl Springs a stopping place to fill up en route.

On the descent we came across Oatman, an old gold mining village which remains today, stuck in the middle of nowhere an odd tourist stop due to the burros, descendants of the ponies used in the mines.  This has brought a load of gift shops and a Wild West shoot out play which made the Bardon Mill pantomime look professional.  There were real guns though.

At the bottom of the pass we headed for lunch only to find the roof had been blown off so had to hit a dodgy service burger place.

After hitting Needles 

we gunned north for the big lights.  And got ill.
