Tucumcari's Muriel
The longest train ever...110 carriages!
A visit to the Blue hole in Santa Rosa was a wow. It's a clear blue sinkhole favoured by landlocked divers. You can swim and dive in which some kids were. You could actually see the bottom and its 81ft deep.
We did the pre-1937 Santa Fe loop.
Took a de-tour to Las Vegas NM it was a strange town like being in a John Wayne movie mixed with a Spanish old town.
We found a fab place to eat on the road to Santa Fe....Harry's roadhouse. Great Mexican deco and fab Mexican food. Had the best burritos Ever!!
Then we headed to the busy streets of Santa Fe. Many beautiful expensive shops but was nice to stretch the legs after a good lunch.
The buildings reminded me of the pre Star Wars movie where Anakin lives!!
Took another short de-tour to the base of La Bajada Hill where the old 66 ran down it from Santa Fe to Alberqueque you are only allowed up it in an 4WD with an experienced driver. We did most of the rub-board dirt track, took a picture then turned round.
Yes the zig zags are the road!
Few extras of old station and motels as I like taking them!
Anyway we both tired today and are ready for a good nights sleep in the slightly Ropey Americans Best Inn!!!
Weather was slightly cooler today and we did get caught in a downpour in Santa Fe with thunder. Still at least it stays warm when it rains!!!
No car picture today I hear you say...hold on......
